Gabes Birthday Cake

Here is the recipe I adapted for Gabe's Birthday. Moist, and dense, this cake seriously hits the spot if you are craving something uber rich and sweet. Dont be scared of the sour cream and boiling water.... somehow it works!

Ingredients:
1 cup of melted choclate chips
1/3 cup cocoa powder
1/2 cup butter
2 1/4 cups brown sugar
3 eggs
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
2 cups flour
2tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup sour cream
1 cup boiling water

Assembly:
In mixer throw in butter and sugar and whip together for 2 minutes. Add eggs and whip for another 3 minutes. When it is light and fluffy add in melted chocolate, vanilla, and cocoa powder.

In seperate bowl combine flour, baking soda, and salt.

Alternately add in parts of sour cream and dry ingredients until well combined.

Stir in boiling water (batter will be THIN)

Bake at 350 for 45-50 minutes in a well greased 9x13 pan, or alternately in two 9 inch pans for 35 minutes.
Once completely cooled, top with the best frosting ever and sliced almonds.
